Benvenuto! Welcome to our adventure! We (Kim & Annie) quit our jobs to move to Italy in October 2008. We met about 5 years ago in Washington, DC playing kickball. Of course we quickly became friends, and soon after learned of our shared love of all things Italian. Kim regularly said, "Come on, Annie. Let's move there. I'm serious." And Annie always said, "Sure, Kim. As soon as we pay our bills, save a little money, etc. We can't just up and go now!" But you know what? We can. And we are! It's a whirwind, but we're both studying Italian, quitting our jobs, packing our things, and saying our goodbyes. We can hardly believe it ourselves. Can we really do this? Is it wise? Is it realistic? Is it even possible? It's a really scary thing to do, and we quickly realized that the more comfortable we get in our typical, American lives, the less likely we are to take this chance in the future. So we're helping each other (read: Kim is helping Annie) to be brave and daring, and we're taking the leap together. Through sheer luck, we've managed to secure jobs teaching English in Genoa. We hope you'll check in with us from time to time - we'll try to keep this blog updated. Please contribute to the comments, and please please come visit us in our new home! We miss you already! (But not enough to come back yet.) Enjoy!
